What Can We Learn About QCD and Collider Physics from N=4 Super Yang–Mills?

چکیده

Tremendous ongoing theory efforts are dedicated to developing new methods for QCD calculations. Qualitative rather than incremental advances needed fully exploit data still be collected at the LHC. The maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills (${\mathcal N}=4$ sYM) shares with gluon sector, which contains most complicated Feynman graphs, but same time has many special properties, and is believed solvable exactly. It natural ask what we can learn from in ${\mathcal sYM addressing difficult problems QCD. With this mind, review here several remarkable developments highlights of recent results sYM. This includes all-order certain scattering amplitudes, novel symmetries, surprising geometrical structures loop integrands, tools calculation integrals, bootstrap methods. While insights have already been carried over contributed state-of-the-art calculations LHC physics, argue that there a host further fascinating ideas waiting explored.

What we can learn from Helios 522 about how we learn about aviation safety

Abstrac t . The August 2005 Helios 522 accident may end up demonstrating that the reductionist model we apply to understanding safety and risk in aviation (taking systems apart and checking whether individual components meet prespecified criteria) no longer works well. Through a concurrence of functions and events, of which a language barrier was a product as well as constitutive, Helios 522 ma...

What can we learn from (and about) global aging?

Although aging is a global phenomenon, there are large differences across countries in both the speed of aging and the current age composition. Furthermore, countries adopt vastly different policies. This creates a natural laboratory that scientists can use to understand how policies affect outcomes. I discuss under what circumstances data from different countries can be used for inference abou...

What can we learn from noise? — Mesoscopic nonequilibrium statistical physics —

Mesoscopic systems - small electric circuits working in quantum regime - offer us a unique experimental stage to explorer quantum transport in a tunable and precise way. The purpose of this Review is to show how they can contribute to statistical physics. We introduce the significance of fluctuation, or equivalently noise, as noise measurement enables us to address the fundamental aspects of a ...

What can we learn about autism from autistic persons?

BACKGROUND To date, few studies have focused on the viewpoints of autistic persons themselves despite an increasing number of published autobiographies. The aim of this study is to highlight their personal experiences, and to compare them to scientific and medical knowledge and representations. METHOD Adopting an anthropological approach, we analyzed 16 autobiographical writings and 5 intervi...

What can we learn about correlations from multinomial probit estimates?

It is well known that, in a multinomial probit, only the covariance matrix of the location and scale normalized utilities are identified. In this study, we explore the relation between these identifiable parameters and the original elements of the covariance matrix, to find out what can be learnt about the correlations between the stochastic components of the non-normalized utilities. We show t...
